FWIW I change my baffles (or tank) around pretty often and I'm usually on the hunt for silicone. A few times I've purchased aquarium silicone only to return it a few hours later. Aquarium silicone states "curing time is one week" (some brands one month) on the label.

GE 100% silicone, not the one with BioGuard, cures in 24 hours and is tacky in one hour. I've been using GE 100% silicone for 6 or 7 years with no ill effects whatsoever.

Same here, like I've said before GE puts that statement on their products about not being for use in aquariums because they do not want the hassle of any possible lawsuits. MHFO

The 'new' GE window and door silicone type I* is different than the old 'type I' The new stuff with the * on it specifically says "not for aquarium use" The old stuff didn't. Unless someone from GE specifically says it's the same thing, I'm not going to use it.

DAP makes a window and door that's good to use. But it's harder to find.

I used the perfecto when I built my aquarium, and the working time is only 5 minutes or so. Way too short if you ask me. I had a panel slide and had to re-apply new silicone over it.

As was mentioned there is a strenth issue when used for aquariums. That is why aquarium silicone takes one week to one month to cure, it's STRONG. The 100% silicone NOT THE BIOGUARD, but the GE 100% silicone isn't made to hold anything together it's meant to keep water out of things.

FWIW if I were building an aquarium I wouldn't even think of using anything other than aquarium silicone but for baffles I like the $1.99 GE SIlicone.
