Check this out, a few growing in a patch of zoas.
has the same base structure as a zoa, but not connected to the rest of the colony. And doesn't seem to be bothering "stinging" the zoa's around it, so figure it is some sort of paly.

Does it have a hard base I looks like Duncanopsammia If it is that a good thing try feeding it I just bought a frag on slezbay should get it this week.....
