Ok so I have a Japanese Dragon Eel named charles that I've had for some time now, and until today everything's been great. Last night I fed him his dinner and then went to bed. Tonight when I went to feed him he didn't come out to eat like he usually does. There's a bunch of Live rock so you cant see where he hides unless you move the rock. After trying very hard to get him to come out, I moved all the rock to discover to my shock he was no place to be found. I searched every corner of the tank and dug through the sand. The tank is fully enclosed and there's no way he could have escaped. So the only two options are that he was stolen (I live with a bunch of roommates) or my anemone's ate him. Both highly unlikely, as someone would have been seriously hurt if they tried to take him out of the tank because he only likes me -- he lets me pet him. Is it possible for a few tiny anemone's to eat him entirely? where did he go? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a link to his species and picture.

I agree, look around the tank, under furniture around the tank, in the sump.

he might have also found a hole in a rock and was inside the rock when you were moving it around.

Forgive me. I hope you find your eel.

Not sure what your trying to say, but I was asking because if he was a small juvenile because he could of got out of tank (even if enclosed) and into plumbing:shocked1::knockedou:knockedou

Maybe this is a stupid question, but this guy wasn't in your 6 gallon eclipse was it?
I only ask because you are talking about losing an eel, and I don't see any eel in the picture of your eclipse?

My old snowflake escaped and managed to perfectly imitate a power cord for 3days while I looked for him, finally the slight whiff of decaying flesh gave him away. :(

No thats the tank i'm trying to sell, not the tank my dragon's missing from. I checked everywhere! Under and around all the furnature, i moved everything, took everything out of the tank, dug through the sand, took apart the filter, tubing, hoses and can't find him anyplace. Any other suggestions?
