I'm about to take two little false perculas out of QT and put them in display in about a week. In my currently fishless tank there is a sally lightfoot as well as a coral banded shrimp and serpent star. Some people say sally lightfoots eat small fish. What have your experiences been with these crabs? I'm thinking of removing it.:sigh:

My satan lightfoot once it reached maturity would hunt and kill fish quite often. Stay clear of them. Once they get mature your fish are meals.

mmm...there seems to be mixed feelings about the little fellas. I guess maybe they all have different personalities?!? It's going to be a hard job catching it anyhow --- maybe an anemone will help protect the clowns

wow really? i had alot of sallys and i even hand small fish and inverts in the same tank with big ones and i never had one incident, all they do is work over time picking the rockz quickly from algae, they r hard workers i like them, maybe if ur tank isn't mature enough to have them?

:mad:There is no question in my mind,Sally lightfoots will eat you small fish ! I lost 3 christmas wrasses in 1 month ,in my 90 gal !!
STAY AWAY, Unless you have alot of $$$$$$$$:mad:

All most all wrasses are easy picking for any kind of crabs when they are asleep in a rock hole.

I find hard to believe sally light foots can catch and eat a healthy fish from the open ware column, must be some quick crab claws.:lol2:

Actually Pierce, I watched mine hunt down and catch very healthy fish at nite and kill them. They can move very quickly.

With this many bad experiences from fellow reefers I would steer clear of them. I had 2 in my old 55 gal reef tank. When small they were no problem but when they got larger they became more agressive. The same held true for my CB shrimps. I no longer keep either of these species in my tank anymore.

I agree! I also don't keep either of the two for the same reasons.
