I've seen two awesome screen meshes made by KathyC and Deanos. I myself just added a Mesh to the back of my canopy and overflow box...HOV=lazy....

But anyway the point of this thread isnt to let you know how lazy i am..ya know that already....How safe are these screen mesh for our fish? Obviously they save our fish from their suicide attempts. But how safe is it when a fish goes full speed into the screen mesh. Maybe its better if they are able to jump, catch their little air time and land whever it is besides the carpet they want. Maybe making a small cage open top screen mesh wud be better so they can jump but bounce off the sides and back into the tank...i dont mean to make more work for ya but its just an idea...

Have you ever seen a fish run right into the glass? I would think that it would hurt more than a screen. The screen does not have to be as tight as a tennis racket, so it will give a little. I think they will be ok and a little bruise is better than a long air dive to the floor and suffocation.

Russ... just something i thought about....when i had a glass top it sounds like the fish hit pretty hard when they jump...so why not just have them bounce off the sides instead of going straight into the mesh...so yeah i'm serious...

I think i understand now...... You have too look at his Avatar UFC. That is where he is going with this... He want UFC in his tank.

Open top but sides that extend up. So putting a fence a few inches high around the tank so that they can get air but not OUT.

I would think that it would not be very pretty to look at. I guess if you got made professionally then it could look ok. But I am understanding what you mean.
