I think there is more to the story than Kasei is explaining, he might have helped out a lot more than one would think with their designs. Also, he just found out that his battery backup is only giving out 8hrs of continuous backup.

Also, lets get real, there's no way they should have started selling their product without having approval yet. That makes no sense unless they needed the deposit money to actually make the units. They're not close to apple, microsoft or any high-end car company.

I think the issue isn't the current situation as much as the culmination of a year of this. I'm sure your friend with the Bentley was told it may take 7 months. Now suppose he was told:

We'll have you car in a month
well it turns out it takes two months
well we meant 2-3 months
well by the spring we'll have it
sorry sir it's taken so long, late spring surely
OK definitely by the summer
Late summer the latest
well we really don't know when the Bentley will be here.

It happened to me when we put 10% cash deposit down for our pre-construction condo. Closing was delayed over a year, every month we got the old line "We are waiting for the inspectors, definitely next month"

We could have asked for our deposit back anytime and given up our condo to someone else and begin looking again. We paid alot more rent because we were going month to month and didn't want to renew the lease for another year...

It's the nature of the beast, if you want something high in demand, you either play the pay and wait game or don't.

Any business will do this. Its just being "backordered", and sometimes the backorder dates change, but they still want your business so they tell you an "expected" date, not an official date. If you wanted an official date, have it in a signed contract with date specified clearly so you can sue when they don't deliver. Obviously they won't sign because there isn't an official date, so that should click that it may not arrive on specified date.
Some places will charge you up front for a backordered item, some will charge when it ships. It just depends on the vendor's policy and it was well known you would be charged up front in this case. They offer to refund you if you request for it so I don't see the big issue.

Big difference, your condo agreement stated that the developer/builder could back out at any time, delay as much as they wanted or had to and reserved the right to turn the whole building into a hotel or rental property and give you the money back.

The difference here is that it wasn't "backordered" it was quite obviously from their forum on RC, still in R&D. To promise and even market a product in R&D stages, that is constantly changing according to their forum is bad business (unless you can deliver it quickly)

To believe you will be able to receive something by a specified date of something that is in R&D and waiting for approval by forces out of their control would be naive to say the least. This is more of a pre-order anyways. People pre-order so they can be one of the first ones to use their new toys. Even with their "bad business", people seem to be very willing to accept this "bad business" by waiting an unspecified amount of time, in trade-off for being the first to get their toys.

Hey Paul, I guess you read my posts ;). Yeah Paul I know you know what's my real beef with them at the moment. I don't care about the WWD release. As long as I have flow I don't care what type it is. Wave or otherwise. The attitude that has been thrown around by them lately is not cool. Don't take this thread like I want them to go out of business. Everyone deserves to make a buck. If you provide a service I expect you should get paid for it.

I hope more companies would come out with innovative things for our obsession with our tanks. I don't do drugs so I need to spend my money someplace. I also don't like handing over money for something that was to work out of the box (Battery Back-up) for 36 hours and it doesn't either work (replaced already by Icecap) or doesn't produce what it is supposed to (Runs 2 Vortechs for a max of 8 hours when it should be 18 hours +- 2 hours). Or when I ask a simple question like" should my Vortech burn me ?? I get no reply or one like " It gets hot" or " it's designed like that... How long does the BB work on 2 pumps? " depends on variances in battery bullshit"

Listen, If you advertise that it will save your tank in case of whatever.. You should make sure it will do just that. Not give me a lame ass excuse like.. "I am not sure how long or the battery might do this with....lallallala.." How many $150 battery back-ups must I buy to feel secure that "IF" a power failure does happen, my $350 x 3 Vortech pumps will do what they promised they would ?

You guys and gals can do what you like. I am not looking for your support. I voiced what is actually going through alot of people's minds right now and either don't want to say it or just said F it. I will call it like I see it. I give people alot of chances before I say anything negative. This is a long while coming.

Read what I post. Don't try to interpret what is hidden in my posts. There is nothing hidden. It is what it is.. Don't like it cool. You agree... cool. I voiced what was bothering me.

i havent posted in a few months, but, i thought i would chime in on this one. i will have to agree, that the product is crap. i wont buy another for a number of reasons, not just because of the cust. serv. being horrible, but also because the product is just plain ole crap
