I have never dealt with a company so full of themselves that when you ask a question they just throw thier hands in the air and say "I don't know" or a virtual shrug or a half ass answer. Or is it more that they don't care??

No word on the release of the Wireless Wave driver. Increase in price for the next order of WWD. Early adopters getting the run around. Problems with the equipment and getting the run around. Questions not being answered completly. An attitude like they are doing us a favor by purchasing thier stuff and getting moody when things don't go thier way or when we need assistance and we are "bugging" them.

Hell, when I buy stuff from any other vendor, I get respect, assistance and a feeling that the customer is always right. Is the product a good one ? Yes on a few levels. Are there problems ? YES!

This company better start steping up to the plate and doing the right thing by thier customers or they will be losing the ones they got and not getting any new ones. This is only the few gripes I have with them. I just don't feel like standing on a soapbox all day.

Matt, I knew about that weeks ago. Do you know when the FCC release is ? No. Should they have taken deposits on something that they knew they couldn't ship out on time ? No. Should they make promises to early adopters that they would "Easily" be able to trade out the old drivers for the new ones. No. Should they have kept with the promise of the trade out program for the cheaper price ? YES. What do I need 3 old drivers for ?

Shall I go on?

Wish no disrespect, early adopters should know they are the guinea pig and are essentially their test market. You can easily get inferior products at a higher premium then the people who are waiting for version 2 to come out. Think of the iPhone, just 2 months after their release, it drops $200. That was a $200 difference, you're complaining about an extra $25 rebate since they're going to lower it to $75. Its all new technology, not just IceCap.

Also, there are plenty of people willing to put their deposit and pay you to be on the waiting list. Its demand which allows it

ming--

i am reading this thread by pseudo and i am interpreting it as a knock on there customer service. not the item itself. thats just my interpretation. and i am in agreement with pseudo on this one. i hate companies who feel they get so big that they really do not care about there customers

they should watch out. It's only a matter of time before the next big thing comes out and then what? they would have lost brand loyalty already when people could easily just go buy a tunze 6100 and get near similar results.

They can't change the way the FCC regulates. Its essentially out of their hands until it gets approved and it doesn't help to keep asking for an update because I'm sure they'll announce it when there is an update.

And I think most people who get a vortech get it because they don't like the intrusiveness of a tunze 6100. They're an eye sore IMO because of the size

When did you buy your pumps? When they offered new drivers at a discounted price through Aquarium Specialty did you buy them? Did they tell you for how long you would be able to get discounted drivers?

Its not that i disagree with the sentiment of your posts, its just that you posted a comment about a equipment vendor/manufacturer in a place where it is very unlikely that they will respond. Which creates a very one sided thread for those who are not familiar with the ongoing issues with the Wireless drivers. All I did was direct people to their side of the story.

I have been on the phone with this company as a retailer numerous times since their departure from Ice Cap. I've never had any problems and I realize my situation is somewhat different, but their hands are tied as far as the government ok for the new unit. They can't control how fast or slow the evaluation goes and I am sure they are inundated with calls about this all day so some employees may be less than ecstatic to field your questions. The deposits help companies fund production of the next wave of units as well as allow the company to see how much interest is out there so they can avoid overshooting the mark (or in some cases fall short so they can increase demand).

I know what you mean Kasei. This is why i never jumped on the bandwagon and stuck with tunzes. IMO, they are the real deal in that department.

I do know that Icecap itself is pretty good, but now that it's a joint venture it's a different ballgame.

Keep us posted.

I guess you guys send out your rent/mortgage checks before you have the money in the bank then right ? They "never" should have asked for money before they had approval to distribute. I have talked to the owner numerous times from the designs, to problems, fixes and so on from the day they announced it to the day I bought one up until today.

Second, I have posted in their forum on RC. So check before you assume. I don't talk behind anyones back. Also they have an account on MR also. Tim knows me personally. This is not a rant!

Would you buy a Benz and pay $100k to only have them tell you to wait til next year to drive it?

Yes they did say that the customers that bought the Vortech and registered them, "WILL" get the reduced price on the upgrade. On and on...

I am more disgusted at their CS than about the product. When they work they are great. It's when they don't that I have problems with them..

By the by, I am not mad at you Matt and understood the links. The purpose of the post is to make REEFERS aware of the problems that certain vendors are having providing services after they sell you the product. We shouldn't have to go to any other board to hear or see this info. This is not the only vendor that pisses me off. I would be on here all day long if I had to tell you about all of them.

They just happen to have messed with me today. This is why we have forums. So no one has to go through what I or someone else has gone through.

I have put a couple grand as a down payment for a new model car with my choice of color, trim, etc so they had to custom order it. They told me I had to wait a month, a month came and they didn't get it because they had to get enough orders of the same thing before the factory builds them, so they refunded me with no questions asked because I didn't want to wait longer. Its the same thing.
I am thinking on the sellers point of view here. If I was selling a product, or even a coral, I would not hold it for someone unless they paid me first. There are simply too many people which will back out unless they already paid.

Their CS has been top notch IME but their management of their product and it's marketing has been deceitful IMO. I went back to tunze.

If and when the product is fully realized with controller and WD I may reconsider. FWIW Tunze has a battery backup coming out soon. I would wager $$$ that the tunze battery backup sees the inside of a UPS truck before the Wiresless drivers from vortech do.

It's funny that I wouldn't wait for a Benz but I know someone who bought a Bentley and had to wait 7 month before he got it. It just the way it goes sometimes.
I have two brand new vortec pumps in my house and from talking to the company and reading the posts on RC, I thought it was clear that they have no idea when they are going to be able to release it. That?s why I'm sticking with the old drivers and not even thinking about the new ones till they're actually released.
Putting a deposit on something that doesn't have a release date yet. Well... what did you think was going to happen you want answers that they can't give. If you think it's that bad then get your deposit back. I really don't understand your anger unless it's just frustration because you want it now.

I think the issue isn't the current situation as much as the culmination of a year of this. I'm sure your friend with the Bentley was told it may take 7 months. Now suppose he was told:

We'll have you car in a month
well it turns out it takes two months
well we meant 2-3 months
well by the spring we'll have it
sorry sir it's taken so long, late spring surely
OK definitely by the summer
Late summer the latest
well we really don't know when the Bentley will be here.
