Any body have a seam failure on a RedSea 170 2G . I was doing a water change and noticed coraline algea in the seams . How long do you think I have before a disaster?

Can’t tell from your pics but algae and sand in the seams is how it starts. Consider yourself lucky to have noticed it. I would prepare to break it down asap given Red Sea tank reputations.

Yeah it’s a little difficult but If you look at the 2nd pic and zoom in you can see the light purple running down the seam , it’s weird to see coraline in the seam, yeah got to get a 40g and transfer everything over , thanks. Just pissed . A big company and constant tank failures come on , on a G2 and the warranty is up

Just in the past 2 weeks, i've heard of reefers tanks seams bubbling.
Yeah , it’s a shame . RedSea has some of the most beautiful setups out there , but their reliability sucks maybe they need to use better silicone, start euro bracing and maybe stop with the front glass floating with no support,

FWIW, algae working into joints isn't a problem for just red sea. Over the years I've seen it happen with most (all?) brands I've used for my systems. I try to avoid scrubbing algae off the silicone, my thinking being it might help work the algae between the silicone and glass. Instead I'll use a syrenge and H2O2 to apply small amounts to the algae to kill it.

Timfish…..I’ve always stayed away from using razors by the seams and if you see my tanks you would laugh ….clean glass but algea on the seams looking like corners w/ hair growing….non reefers like that thinking that’s nice , not knowing that’s a reefer pet peeve to have it as a distraction . ha ha

The weird thing is how did the salt creep and coraline get past the algae and silicone . If I don’t scrape the seams
