Pregnant skunk shrimp

How can one tell if a Skunk Shrimp is pregnant? Where are its pouch(es)?

It requires two cleaner shrimp in the tank

The cool part about it is......the two shrimp will reverse rolls (male/female) in alternating spawning months.

I've had a lone skunk cleaner produce an egg mass, albeit, infertile.

I've often seen shrimp (not just cleaners, Peppermints as well) with these weird "growths" on their sides; these pouches. I've seen them quite frequently in stores - I thought these were pregnant shrimp. But apparently not! Any idea what these are? Are these diseases of some sort?

This thing in the - on the right side. What is that?

parasitic isopod. Some will eventually kill the shrimp others won't. It's like the anti-copepod.

Would a shrimp with this thing be safe in the tank? Or can this thing poison the whole system. Can it spread to other shrimp?

Thanks. Though I didn't really see anything that addressed the issue of it being contagious and/or spreading across the aquarium.

as far as I know they tend to stick with a single type of animal. It has to do with how they are passed on or picked up. It is entirely possible the other shrimp may get it but I doubt your fish would get it.
