While we are talking settings I am planning on useing the coral acclamation function when I add new bits. I have in mind to use a 50% reduction with a 1 month ramp back to full power. Does this seem adaquate? I am testing the function now with a 70% reduction on a one month ramp back to full power on my first frags.

Sounds plenty adequate to me.

Sorry I can't help you with your other settings. Not familiar with AI Hydra.

I suspect some of it is just personal preference on appearance. I like my tanks white with just a hint of blue. The spectral graph shows a hugh blue spike, but to the eye it is white with a blueish tint. With the controler it give a spectral plot based on current settings. Let me see if I can get a screen capture to show you.

Making me want a director. I have 2 AI Vegas colors over my tank and use the wireless controller and easy timer setup...

Sorry I can't help with your questions, but what do you think of the director?

I like it. I do not have experience with other controllers. My last light controllers were appliance timers.

I did some digging on another reef board and the people there are running their hydra 52's much lower than I am. Am I at risk of burning my corals? I know Chris runs a 400 watt MH over a 40 breeder with no issues. I just added a new frag today and restarted the acclimation ramp at 50% reduction, 1 month ramp duration. I also reduced the red and green a little.

What is the equivilant in MH?

You are running your whites at 100%, so you probably should tone it down a bit. Especially if you're concerned. Your corals are going to die due to a lack if light.

I need to look. Not sure if Sanjay did his test and wright up yet. I have looked but did not see it. I am a little concerned but I know that other site has lots of ditto heads who just repeat what they hear not knowing if it is correct or not. I feel the need to dig aittle deeper to find out if it is correct and why.

you've adjusted the intensity for acclimation- I wouldnt worry - you're giving the corals plenty of time to get used to the light - my Meteor Cyphastrea lightened up a huge amount, its a pale green now, but has been growing like gangbusters - it was a half inch frag when I got it a year ago, and its encrusted across the rocks about 1.5-2" in every direction...

I added another frag yesterday and reset the acclimation to start over. I suspect since I am in the stocking phase I will not see full power for quite some time. Glad to hear your LEDs are working out for you. I can not wait to start to see growth in my frags. It has only been a week on the first four. I am hoping to see something by the first month.

I had a power outage at home last night and it whiped all the settings off my director, lost connection to the wi-fi and the hydra. I had to reference a screen shot I had to put things back. AI has gotten a bug notice. This kind of bums me out. Since I was home it was "easy enough" to fix, but if it happens with me out of town it will be tough to walk the wife or one of the kids through the process to get is back going.

Also a while back I added the lightning effect just for fun. If is on a 2% probablilty and a 15% intensity. It does lighting storm in the middle of the night since it is random. I fell asleep on the couch one night and work up to a lighting storm in my tank at 3am.

get a UPS from a computer supply store - depending on size, you should be able to put a circulation pump, and the light set on one so you at least keep the water moving in the display, and the lights wont get wiped out again...

Turns out it you hold the button longer than 10 seconds it resets everything. Oops. Still trying to figure out why it could not get the wifi back. I wonder if the boot speed of the modem is slower than the director and it time out or something.

What is your overall impression of the AI's? I am close to pulling the trigger on a new LED fixture but I can't decide which one I want lol

I like it a lot but it is the only fixture I have used so nothing to compare against. It has a nice LED combination, no read disco ball effect, low heat, good mounting options and good control with the director. I have tweaked my lights some more and it is more parabolic that what was posted before. I will try to get on a computer later to post the new schedule.

I was about to pull the trigger on the radion pro but found a local store that sells a pretty good light and now I am back to uncertain what I am going to do lol. Haven't unpacked the tank yet lol.
