Hi everyone, It has been sometime since I have been online. I have really gotten discouraged from reef keeping as I still have not been able to get the colors back into my sps corals. Just very bright (almost white) pastels. Anyway...

I use my Liter Meter III for 2 part and fresh water top off. I have the tube going though my floor into the basement to the freshwater tank. My problem is, since it runs so much to replace the evaporated water and it is pulling about 15 feet in height, it really goes through the replacement rubber tubes inside the dosing pump quickly. Does anyone know where I can get a whole bunch of that tubing without spending a lot of money? If you buy the single replacement tube, it's like $15 or something. Home depot has something similar but it is way too soft and flexible.

McMaster Carr sells peristaltic tubing.

In gerenarl its not cheap no matter where you look. You may want to use a different type of tubing that has a longer wear time.

Do you know any type of tubing that has alonger wear time that will work with that system?

To save me the time, what are they using in the LMIII?

I think (am not 100% sure, so double check) the LiterMeter uses Latex tubing for their pumps. You can get bulk spools of them for like $30 per 50 feet!
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.a ... &catid=623

Usplastics also sells silicone tubing if that's what Spectrapure uses. Silicone is the most common tubing for dosing pumps. I'd contact them to inquire (ask them what material it is because you want to make sure it is safe for certain chemicals). Then just buy a spool of the same ID/OD tubing and you're set for life.

Silicone has the longest service life and is the most chemically inert (though it sounds like you're just passing water through it).

It is? To date no peri I have bought has come with silicone. Ditto with all our company ones. We replace what many of them come with to silicone though :)

USPlastic typically is not a cheap solution. It's akin to using Uline for commercial shipping needs.

Like I said, I think Spectrapure units come with Latex, which is cheaper. But silicone should be the most popular tubing material for medical and lab equipment since it's durable and inert. It's what I'd replace it with too.

I realize USplastics is not a cheap solution, but neither is mcmaster :p Both, however, will be MUCH (like 10x or more) cheaper then buying individual snippets from Spectrapure :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't sylicone tubing very rigid? Will it work inside the LiterMeter?

Also, I tried to call Spectrapure and find out what type and diameter the tubes are. I got nothing!!! He wouldn't tell me a single thing. Does anyone knowwhat the ID and OD are exactly?

Silicone is very flexible. It can stretch to 2 times its original shape and return to form. It should work just fine in your Litermeter. Silicone tubes are used for this purpose.

My guess is it's 1/8" ID and 1/4" OD. I don't know for sure. You can try measuring it.

OK, I will measure it tonight and give it a go. I'll keep you posted as to whether it works or not.

Thanks for the advice.
