I actually came up with something that I am not sure if I know the answer to.

I have seen Longnose hawks eat Sexy Shrimp before. I know Hawks like to eat snails and crustaceans but I've seen them completely ignore them as well. So here I am with a question and I don't know the answer and hope some of you people can help me. :)

I have a Flame hawk. He doesnt bother snails or hermits so +1 for him. I'm having an asterina star outbreak and want them gone. One of the things that gets rid of the nasty buggers are harlequin shrimps. I've had harlequins before and I know once the asterinas are gone I'll need to feed it and I already know how to deal with that.

What I'm unsure of is how this Flame Hawk is going to be with the Harlequin shirmp. Do any of you have any experience with any combinations of hawks and shrimp living together more or less in peace?

Long nose hawks have smaller mouths and will not bother larger shrimp. A flame hawk has a good sized mouth that they can open far wider than it looks like it can. Chances are they will have issues.

Have seen longnose hawks smash larger shrimp into pieces and then consume. Do not assume that based on mouth size that any mobile crustacean additions will be safe.

Remove the hawk for the duration of the 'treatment' would be my suggestion if you want to be safe.
