i have 15 fish in my 100 gallon and i feed them 3 cubes of hikari mysis a day. only three fish are bigger then 4 inches, the rest are small fish like firefish and gobies and anthias.

how much do you feed your tank? i dont have time to feed the tank twice a day because i work all day but i want to get my fish more fat and healthy but not pollute my tank.

I feed my tank once to twice a day, with about 3 ounces of mysis or other meaty foods. I have a 176 gallon with (I think) 19 fish, the biggest being a big 5+" supermale wrasse. My fish stay nice and plump with this feeding amount.

I have a 58 with 5 fish all smaller ones. I feed a cube a mysis over split over two days and a pinch of large pellets and a pinch of small pellets everyday.

compared to you guys i'm starving my fish. i have a 90 with about 10 fish in it and i feed once every two to three days. granted, i probably feed more per feeding than you guys do, but the frequency is less. this is the best way to keep nutrients in check. and since i had a tendency to overfeed when i was doing it daily, i just figured i'd cut feeding back to every couple of days or so.

Hmm... that sounds like a lot (3 cubes)... even IF you did it every other day. Man, you don't have any algae problems? I assume you don't have any Tangs since it sounds like you are just feeding meaty foods? I do it once a day to every other day. I alternate this and the types of food... meats, pellet greens, seaweed, live brine sometimes. It's a balancing act and I tend to tilt towards underfeeding since it can cause so many problems overfeeding. I think 15 fish in a 100gal tank is too much too. Not only are you feeding a lot (I assume you got your 3 cubes from a 2-min rule or something?) but you are creating a lot more waste from all those fish too. One thing I do also is watch to make sure everybody is not only eating and exhibiting normal behavior and getting their fair share... but I also put it in a little at a time so nothing settles on the sand or rock. Maybe this is mostly a fish-only tank so you can get away with this affecting your water quality... but you can still get bad algae problems.
