What would make my skimmer go crazy all of a sudden?

I woke up this morning and my skimmer was foaming and overflowing. A lot of the skimmate got back into my sump I didn't do anything to the tank yesterday and the tank looks fine. What could make my skimmer go crazy for no reason?

Did the snails/corals have orgy inside the box?

Dead fish somewhere?

did you add anything to the water 24 hrs or so before the overflow?

I don't think anything spawned but maybe that is what happened. The water looks fine today. How long does it take for spawning cloudy water to clear?

I did nothing except feed the tank what i normally feed.

Didn't paint inside the house or use strong cleaning chemicals?

Feed oily mysis shrimp? Use chemi clean? Prime?

did you put on a filter sock??? sometimes those will make a skimmer go crazy.

How new is the skimmer? If it was brand new, most after about 2 weeks will start foaming rather crazily until they calm down.

What type of skimmer, how new, what has changed....new food? medication? etc......

then we can begin to assist better...everything else is just guessing on our part
