I got a 5 dollar horseshoe crab at the LFS to sift my sand. Hes the weirdest thing by far Ive bought. He literally get stuck in corners. Anyways any advice on feeding him?
They're scavengers and feed on most anything on the substrate. But I hate to tell you: they are very unsuitable for captive care. You got an interesting baby horseshoe crab, but just wait when it becomes a 25 lb, foot-diameter monster
Aww well luckily for me I live so close to the beach that when hes 25 lbs he can walk there lol. But yea. THey wont take him back. "All sales are final" But he eats right out of my hand so thats good.
Mine grew a few inches a year. He was a pet at our wholesale facility UNTIL he was sold. IIRC we had him for like 4 - 5 years and he only got like 8 inches long. Guess he was a runt
There's a store near Chicago called Old Orchard that had a large one in their large look down marine pool. It lived with a very large lobster and a couple sharks. EVerything lived in harmony  no joking
I've had a few . Once I bought a small one and he kept flipping on his back unable to right himself, then died a few days later. Another one I caught and he kept wedging himself between rocks and the glass, requiring complicated rescues. Another I caught and he disappeared under the sand. About 6 months later after I had forgotten about him he popped up for awhile. I assume there are one or two in my sand now.
