Is he a Purple or a Fridmanni dottyback ( P.porphyreus and P.fridmanni respectively )? Fridmani are exceptionally tame for a dottyback species while the 'purple' are known terrors.Check some pictures of both species and see which you have.

I had a splendid pseduo that killed a bunch of fish too. I got him out with an acrylic trap. It took several days for it to get used to it, but finally it got comfortable enough to go into the trap and sneak out food .... until I caught it.

Yah they are vicious little fishes... Just look at thier face, they look pissed!!

Fridmani (sp?) is an awesome fish though, very passive and much better looking, of course you pay for that...

I have one and he keeps to himself. I have a tang, two skunks, a Chromis and him. Everyone gets along fine... maybe he's happy as there are only 4 fish in a 100g?

The current Pseudochromis is actually a replacement of a fish that died in the heatwave in CA last year that depleted my tank of oxygen before I could buy a generator. He seems to have the exact same attitude as the last one. i.e. wary of movement round the tank but confident enough to come close to me when I feed.
