here is the deal, on the female end of the connection which has eight wires, the center wire has pulled out. it is not repairable. at least not in any fasion i would be happy with.

the ballast is a MagnaTek 120V 2 light (446-L-SLH-TC-P). I have seen the wire diagram "Beemert" posted it for me. it is here:

http://www.gelighting.com/na/business_l ... SLHTCP.pdf

after i checked all wires throughly, and broke that center wire, i have come to these questions:

1. Where can I buy just the replacement wiring harness?

2. Is a wiring harness a wiring harness? (i called Absolutly fish and was told they to do not carry this type of harness, and i need to find the exact same one. thoughts?)

3. Do I have to just bite the bullet and buy an entire kit? (ballast to end cap)

3a. Which unit should i get? (Coralife Flourescent actinc 03 1x 20W / 1x 40W)

----the FLOURESCENTS are not ON. Today is day one with no light from these.

thanks.

Ok, What I would do is call the manufactor of the lights and see if you can order a ballast. If that dose not work for you, then you will need to buy another light for the tank. Dont worry about no lights for the time being. I lost power during Katrina for 5 days and during Wilma we were out for 12 days and yes I do have corals. So dont panic eveything will work out

i am having a really hard time figuring out what is the difference between all the ballasts out there and what i got. i can't seem to find anything about what i have, but there seem to be many different ones between $40 - $200. ugh. time to watch the "italian job" and go to bed...

someone on this board once said, sometimes it gets dark over the ocean for days....

i'm sure they'll live.

but why does there have to be so many people making the same damn product!!!
