I just noticed today that I've got a whole army of aiptasia amassing in my tank. They blend quite well with the rocks, but sure enough, there's a few dozen small ones all over the place. Just wanted to vent ;)

Time to bust out Joe's Juice. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears.

Peppermints would be my first choice too.

Keep it well fed and it will probably leave your corals alone. More likely to go after softies and parazoanthus spp. in my very brief (so far) experience with two of them. You know how that caveat goes. These guys are super hardy, and will take to flake food right off the bat. I think it's worth a try before attempting a CBB.

LOL Rob...Len's too crafty to fall for that.

Either that or we'll get a nice macro shot of one aiptasia tentacle...

Peace,

Chip

How many peppermints do you think I should add to a 176 gallon? Cost isn't an issue so much as effectiveness is :P

I think the way i'll tackle the problem is, peppermint first, followed by Joe's Juice if necessary, then a buttefly or two as a last resort.

I had 2 in my nano when the tank was covered with them and they cleaned the tank in 2 days.

Len, if you had taken pics of your tank for us we would have noticed the aiptasia before it became such a problem  . FWIW, I have always had success by directly injecting aiptasia with pure lemon juice. This may not be practical if you have a whole army to deal with though.

Bury them bastards in epoxy with a dab of super glue. That is the only sure fire way that I have found.

Works on shrooms and other nuissance polyps too.
