What are the groups thoughts about reducing water flow during the night or when the main lights are off ? I have heard this is a good idea and would like your input. Thanks in advance.

Night time currents are suppose to be calmer due mainly to the moon having less "pull" then the sun, but I've done some night swims and it still seems pretty wavey to me :) I don't personally bother reducing night time flow anymore.

I run it the same all the time. I do not see the need to turn it down. The fish find a place to hide when it is time to sleep. IMO the coral don not care one way or another.

I like to replicate the natural environment as much as the next guy but adjustments have to be made because of the miniscule size of our systems.

My concern with lowering the flow is CO2 accumulation. It accumulates bad enough with just the lights out. Lowering the flow might make it even worse, at least I assume it would be worse. PH would be a likely indicator so it would be easy to test.

I like to give things a rest at night, I have 2 Tunze that turn down to lowest setting at lights out.

I don't bother with it. If I had an electronic controller, I might program it to reduce the flow (a bit) automatically but since I don't own such an expensive device, I simply got to bed, like my fish do!
