What kind of elements does everyone dose on a regular basis?

I just got a dosing system and am curious what everyone is adding to thier tanks?

I want to make a mixture but not sure what to include...

I just do kalkwasser.

Been adding a bit of turbo calcium when the kalk isn't quite enough.

On my 40 I use a CA ractor and a kalkreactor. On my 75 softie tank I just use a kalkreactor, and top off with a bit of bio-calcium once and awhile.

Thanks Ben and Laura, does anyone dose anything besides kalk and calcium? I have a ca reactor and kalkreator but thinking I should be adding stronium, iodine, iron, magnesium etc...

thoughts?

I only dose 2 part additives (calcium/alk) and that's it. I may do a bit of kalkwasser occasionally and Mg to bring levels back into line. Only add what you can test for.

I top off with saturated limewater. Once in a while I'll add a bit of Baking soda. Once in a great while I'll add a mix of Magnesium chloride & Magnesium sulfate.

Test what tou dose and don't dose anything you don't test for.

I dose kalkwasser, and occasionally I add a buffer to up the alkalinity. Water changes replenish the trace elements in my case.

I run a CA reactor and also add kalk to my make up water. Regular WC's takes care of the rest.

I've been hesitant to plunge into CR. Nowadays, I've seen people run a CA and Kalk reactor, a Phosban reactor to absorb the phosphates from the CR media, and on top of that, the Zeovit reactor :?

I need a bigger stand!

Used two part Ca/Alk on my last two tanks. On my new tank I think I am going to try lime water.

Currently dose 2 part b-ionic alk/calc as needed and all other lvls seem to maintain so far. Also weekly water change (about 15 gal. in a 125 gal. tank) as well and that helps keep lvls balanced all around.

I dose b-ionic alk and calc...
evry once in a while I end up dosing some Magnesium
Sometimes I use the Kent superbuffer DKH
Sometimes I use iodine

Thats it...everything is maintained well with my water changes.

I test for every one of those additives, although the iodine test is inaccurate. I only dose the iodine if the level of the test is very low to non-existant.

I dose kawkwasser and iodine mixed into the makeup water, it is feed by a aqua lifter pump into the sump on a floater switch to top off little bit at a time all day long so there wont be a ph shock. Seems like every 4- 5 days I replenish 5 gals of makeup water, 2 spoons of kawkwasser and 5ml of Kent Marine Iodine. 72 gal tank ~8 gal in sump, skimmer, and chiller.

i don't dose anything...

is that bad?

i have bottles of iodine, calcium, and Tech I...

i don't use it. i used to use the calcium but i killed two leathers and a HUGE green star polyp colony...

i just do weekly 10 gallon water changes on a 55 gallon tank, and feed everyother day.

however, everything seems to be happy. is this one of those "go with what works" things?

I dose Cal./Alk. and let my water changes take care of the rest. I might start dosing some sort of plankton for the corals, because I do not have fish and thus they do not get any secondary feeding from that (missed food, fish waste). But I am a little leary of doing it because it might cause an algae problem, due to nutrient buildup.

Your water changes are probably supplying the calcium/alk to keep the water quality good. As long as you keep up with them you should be fine. If you add hard corals they will probably extract calcium from the water at a rate faster than you can supply with the changes. In that case I would suggest starting with B-Ionic, as its pretty simple to use and works great.
