Torn between keeping it simple with a couple powerheads and HOB skimmer or having a sump with hang-on overflow, return pump to a seaswirl, cheato in the sump/fuge etc.

The 20 long is rather small, will be in the living room and would like it to look clean, don't know how it will look with overflow and swirl hanging off the back compared to just a Remora skimmer. With the skimmer I'm also concerned about microbubbles and the big bulky skimmer box.

The tank is going to be SPS/clams with Reef Optix III 250W Pheonix lighting.

What do you think?

IMO, you can't go wrong with a sump/fuge. You get more water volume and the additional filtration of the fuge.

Normally I'd say just keep it simple, but since your planning on SPS and Clams, better just get it over with and set it up with a sump so you get some more stability/volume
