Looks great! I believe you mentioned what type of lighting in past threads, but I don't recall...what is it again?

Nice pics, too.

Single 400 watt Iwasaki. I'm a diehard, I love the bulbs and have been using them for almost a decade.

nothing beats the best. its all I use. :)

What would be th possibilities to acquire one of those frags once yours large enough to share? ;)

Let's put it this way, the Sanctuary is so keen on none of their corals or coral descendents getting into the hobby trade that they gave a scientist a grant to develop a genetic tag to identify all sanctuary corals that leave the sanctuary and go into closed system aquaria, to make sure they don't end up in the hobby.

New growth from an old encrusting piece of staghorn. I scratched it with a chisel on purpose, and this was the result.

More new staghorn growth visible on an old branch that hasn't had a growth tip in a while. New staghorn frags also visible.

Galleon,

What are you feeding those corals? Without a deep sand bed they'd all starve if you weren't feeding them, right?

...or are they eating plasticizers?

The systems get fed 2-3 teaspoons of pureed seafood a week.

Then do you skim the bejebus out of the system to recover what's not eaten?

Note the high tech $15 fan from Wal-Mart in the background. ;)

Public aquarium budgets are thrifty! :)

Those box fans can drop a tank that size several degrees, too!

Galleon,

Do you shut that skimmer down for an hour or so after feeding so the animals can actually get something to eat? I'd feel bad if those poor corals had to compete with that PVC behemoth for their once weekly meal.
