turning off power heads question

I just added a bunch of crushed up coraline to seed my new rock. While doing this I have turned off my powerhead and filter to eliminate water movement from disturbing what I added. I have a 10 gal going right now so I was wondering how long you would leave the powerhead and filter off while not hurting my tank to badly. I only have one fish, some shrooms and a rock flower. Thanks in advance.

Why turn them off?
What type of powerheads and how many?
What type of filter?
Simply redirect the flow towards the surface instead of the substrate and rock. Most powerheads come with diffusers.

If you are trying to seed coralline you want as much flow as possible. Actually thats what spreads it around.
