How long should you keep a fish in a bag?

Our of curiosity sake, seeing as we are travelling to a fish store that is about an hour away I have a feeling that is 1 hour to many to keep any fish in a bag but just wondering what other people's thoughts/experiences are?

No more than 24 hours IMO but the less time in the bag the better.

I usually carry a bucket with a battery operated sponge filter when I transport fish by car. The sponge lives in the sump until I need it.

An hour is nothing. If packed right, steady temp, and they don't poo in the bag they can do 3 days.

Matt's right, I forgot about ammonia detoxifying from all the CO2.
