Just purchased this leather. It was fully open at the LFS. It has now been over 4 hours, ans still has not opened. Alk might be a little low, all other water parameters are good. Plus other corals are doing good. Do I need to just give it some more time?

They can stay dormant for quite some time. If you see some white spots(rotting) you know it's time for immediate action.

Are the spots getting crusty or powdery?

Necrotic?

Usually it's a water quality issue. PH and Alk occasionally play a role.

You could try cutting away the white areas.

It looks like it is coming around, nothing to be alarmed by.

You got flow moving over it? They like good water movement. But really, for day two of a newly aquired big leather, I think it looks fine.

Yes i moved a power head over it when i put it in the tank. Read that they like lots of water movement. Just want to be sure.....

Leather coral, everytime you move them from one tank to another, it takes a while before you can see anything open. Mine green leather took almost two weeks. the coral need time to built a coating around them before open up. I don't know if it is making any sense to ya'll.
