I just got in my Remora skimmer and it has been going for 2 days. How high does the cup need to be set before it gets that nasty foam? Right now, I've got it set about half way up and it is pretty wet and no gunk. The instructions said it would be some time before it breaks in, but I was wondering what experience everyone else had.

Re: Aragamilk...anyone use it? The directions say to dose 1 drop per 2 gal, but there is no dropper?! I guess I'll just get a syringe.

1. my was all the way down for the first month and then I stared to raise it up. Personally I like it more when the cup is lower.

2. Have you open the container? Some times it is inside.

I have used argamilk. I like it. It is good for lo demand stuff. if you cant keep your Ca and dKH readings then you need calk or similar two part system that you can control bothe the Ca input and such.

how old is the tank and how populated is it?

I have a Remora Skimmer and love it. I run my cup all the way at the bottom. It has been running for about 8 months. The Remora will produce wet skimmate, not the foam like some others. I empty my cup about one a week, and its normally about half full of dark green/black liquid. I've actually talked to the owner of AquaC about this, and he stated that that is what it is suppose to produce. According to him the wet skimmate is more concentrated in gunk than the dry stuff. All I know is my tank is healthy from my Remora making wet stuff.

One thing you do want to watch is the riser tube inside the cup. Make sure you scrub it with a toothbrush or somthing everyonce and a while to keep the inside of the tube clean or it will seriously impede skimming.

Hope this helps,

B.

It took my skimmer about 2 weeks to start working great. The first 2 weeks the foam was almost clear water and needed to be dumped each day. Now i clean it once a week and love it.
