First of all, Hello. I haven't been here in a while. I getting ready to setup a new 70 RR. I'm wanting to know which skimmer you guys recommend. I thinking either a Aqua C EV 120, Euroreef CS6-1 or a PM Bullet-1. I'm trying to keep noise to a minimum, but still be effective. I'm replacing a Berlin XL, so any of these will be soooooo much better!

Thanks in advance,
Phillip

welcome back phillip :)

if noise is a concern, go with the euroreef or similiar design by georeef or asm. Any of these will definitely beat the berlin :)

Hey thanks! I forgot about ASM. Are they as good as Euroreef? I noticed on Ebay, they are a little cheaper.

Thanks again,
Phillip

Euroreef owners always speak highly of there units. You can't go wrong there.

I have a Lifereef and it kicks butt too.

Hey Philip!

The ASM works with the same principle and uses the same pump, but the body construction is cheaper extruded plastic. It's still plenty nice .... it simply uses lesser raw materials. Georeef has a nicely built, cast-acrylic needle wheel that is recirculating (a nice touch). And his skimmers are always reasonably priced.

Clicking my link I see his site is different now and he is also making beckets instead. I like beckets better so doesnt bother me.

Thanks for the link. I emailed him to see if he still makes the needle wheel style.

Thanks again,
Phillip

i have a coralife super skimmer 65 and i really like it a lot. it does a great job, i rarely have to mess with it. my only concern in the rio 1100 pump that it uses. i hear they are junk and it is a bit noisey. (but it was only $100)

i have an aqua c ev 180 it works very well but you can hear the mag 7 pump hum at night tanks in my bed room you can try a quiet one pump but i bet the asm or euro reef will make less noise i think the asm and euro use the same style pump

I just set up my ev 180 with a quiet one pump. It's much quieter than the bak pak 2 it replaced but it's not in my bedroom. I can't hear the quiet one over the mag 7 return pump.
