Is it okay to leave Aiptasia growing in my refuge or should I get rid of it. I know how to get rid of it but if it is not necessary I will just leave it.

I left mine. I had a pepermint that would kill everyone in the tank. So if one or ten got into the tank, I considered it a treat for shrimpy. Now that he's dead (ALWAYS QT NEW ARIVALS KIDS!) I'll probably get a few in the main tank. Then I'll need to get a couple more to keep it in check.

I've had about 6 for the last year without them spreading at all...so I just leave them there. You dont have to feed or mess with em and they add life to the fuge. Then again I also have a shrimp.

Thank you for the replies. I also have peppermint shrimp in the main tank so I am not too worried about them spreading. I mostly was wondering if they are in any way beneficial to the system.

Thanks again,

If you have Peppermints in the display tank you probably won't see any aptasia pop-up there, but I still wouldn't want aptasia in my fuge, feeding on the critters I was trying to cultivate there...

I have a small 20 gal w/ 10gal fuge. The 20 was an aiptasia farm for some time even though the peps kept them in check, there are still a couple here and there. That now includes the fuge which was added about 5-6 months ago. I've decided to let them be for a while myself, just to see what happens. I do see that the ones in the fuge are the biggest at 2-3" oral disc dia. I can kill them all when I want and will occasionally kill one now and again since the one last pep only eats them sometimes.
