Is there any reason that I cannot run my kalk reactor using salt water water from the sump pumped through the reactor? This would make it much easier and not run the risk of having the reactor run dry when my 5 gal. R/ O resovior is empty.

No, you cannot, it will not be the right pH to dissolve the kalk, and just won't work.

Sorry,

Sorry,

Just want to say that the problem here is not the pH, but the ions in the saltwater itself that will react with the kalk, render it useless for it purpose. This is why you need to use very good water for kalk rxtor, such as RO/DI, to make sure there is no offending ion in it.
