Sixline wrasses have been known to eat them. Most Pseudochelinius sp wrasses will, actually.

Like Len said, sixlines will help. Still, try to remove as many as you can, since the sixline will also spend time feeding on pods and bristleworms. Also, rice snails are nocturnal, so the sixline will be sleeping when they are most active.

I had a tank full of these snails at one time, but they couldn't get to my crocea because it's buried in a hole. Than, they all just disappeared.

What will you be dipping?

Being a mullusk, they are pretty resistant to freshwater dip.

It is very hard to get them if the clam is buried. Some may get inside the hole and work on the clam on the underside, where you can't see them.

Because my crocea is secured in the hole, it no longer bothers to attach, so I'm able to pull him out if needed (I can't remember if crocea's can release their byssal gland like the other Tridacnids). Luckily, the whole time there were rice snails in there, I never found one on or under him. With no food source, they just died out.

Hey, what are you guys talking about? What's the deal about these snails? I have a few in my tank -> what are the expected casualties? I don't have any clams -> what else?

Thanks,
M.

Clams and bivalves are at risk, and rarely other gastropods.

I'm not sure whether these are the harmful pyramid snails or not since many snails take this form (some being herbivores), but I suppose it's better safe then sorry.

I just take the clam out daily and brush the entire shell down and rinse it off with saltwater. Do it for a few weeks. Worked for me.
