Apparently I have bought 2 worthless powerheads. Which do you guys suggest? I would like to get about 600 gph in two power heads.

Agreed. I have 4 attached to a RedSea Wavemaster, and I love it.

if you don't want 2 powerheads in there you could try a seio. i think even the smallest one will do over 600 gallons.

I've used X10 controllers to do wave functions with mine in the past but its not something I'd probably recommend for a non-techy type.

And I still can't get over that id Sugar Mag... :D (Listening to Sugaree from 4/11/72 right now...)

HA! - Came back to the thread just as Sugar Mag is on from the same date.. :D :D (Stream from GDRadio.net..)

Alright, sorry for the off-topic clutter.. - This aint the sump after all..

Isn't a good idea with PH's on any sort of a timing system to have that timing system do a "soft-start" to help with the life of the heads?

MJ's don't need to be soft started, that's why they are the recommended brand for wavemakers. Apparently they have a heavy duty motor that can withstand the constant electrical interruption that wavemakers create.

I've been running mine for close to a year and haven't had any issues.

Gotta love that wavemaker. I've had mine for five months and it never fails :D Love the different functions too.

BTW, don't throw out the "useless" powerheads yet! Use them to mix up the new saltwater the night before, or use them to create a desktop fountain
