Anyone have any experience with Mag pumps, specifically, having a problem of them leaking when shut off. I turned of the pump mag3600 for some maintenance, and after an hour noticed a large puddle comming out of my stand. The water wasnt coming from the inlet/outlet or the seal, but rather the solid casing where the electrical cord is attached. Cant find any cracks on the casing and I cant find a way to inspect the electrical cord connection/seal.

I called for warranty service (anyone have any favorable input about them?) and they tried to attribute the leak to dropping the pump causing a crack internally. It wasnt dropped. Has been running for the last 8 months continously without problems.

Anything I should look for? I unscrewwed the cover (inlet/Outlet) but this doesnt seem to be the area of leak nor the area to gain acess to area it was dripping from.

The back cover can be removed. See if you can find leak/crack on the black plastic button-like thing in the middle. The impeller's bearing fits on the other side of this, and so there is 1/8 inch of plastic between the water and the back of the powerhead.

If you leave the back cover off, and put the rest of the powerhead together, and put it on the usual place with water, I am sure you will see water coming out of somewhere.

It is possible that it was dropped in shipping and it has not begun leaking until now.

I have owned 4 mag pumps. While I think they are great pumps, I have always used them submerged because they always leak, even brand new.
