Tunze Wavebox looks interesting.

that it does, that it does.

I like this new idea called an aquarium. Its cool, its made out of glass or clear plastic material, can hold water, even hundreds of gallons. You can put fish in it and have the underwater...above water! crazy.

I saw something at house of fins yesterday. You put it on the output of a powerhead, and it rotates the flow 360 degrees, then stops and goes the other way.

But of course, I forgot to get the name of it.

Not a product but I am excited about the emergence chaetomorpha as an alternative macro for nutrient export, refugiums etc. I was turned on to it in my "Trying to bring my tank back" thread.

I wonder if it is OK in CA, the land of illegal Caulerpa - any Californians know?

I checked into that exact question bout a year ago. There is a federal law which is very general and bans shipping "invasive" plant life between states. The examples are some caulerpas (grape and feather type) but not limited to those. San diego is really really sensitive to it because of the damage done to sea grass beds from macros released by aquarium nuts.
So I guess chaeto could possible be inculded also. They recommend freezing the macros before disposing.

Again not really new product but I like the ideas and article from freshwater and marine aquarium by Robert Glasser titled "some old (or are the new?) thoughts an aquarium keeping." Feb 1979. Seems we keep rediscovering methods. At this particular point in time deap sea beds may have some problems and we seem to be rediscovering macros such as chaeto.

What to me is interesting is seeing the "fads" come and go. Just the way the hobby is.

As far as something new, I have ordered T-6 lighting. Yep not t-5 or t-8 or t-12. It is like a t-5 with wider ends to fit the t-8/t-12 fixtures. So I guess that is something new and will have to see how it works.

Of course I could just use sunlight :D

one big question, does it have a thermostat?

What about getting thinner tubing for a litermeter or somthing like that. With a smaller ID on the tubing, you would be pumping less water.

'Don't know if its new or not, but I like the idea of a battery powered air pump.

i dunno, i'm hoping someone got it already and can let the rest of us know. it doesn't look like it has a thermostat and the product description doesn't leave me so confident in it either. 8O

in the past i just stuck a hagen mini heater in a hob for the temp control but as the 2gal. lower level is passed that becomes less wieldy. thank goodness for the AZoo mini at least. ( <- not very reliable ime tho)

Bingo,
I saw something like that. Was hooked up to some flex pipe and moved in 360 deg circles. Nothing electrical about it. Just sent gentle flow of water over the corals and they loved it it seems. Said they were cheap and worked real well. Forgot the name to. i will not do a SCWD, to many problems i hear.

I received some free samples of Reed Mariculture's www.phyto-feast.com this weekend. I've used both Reed's Coral & Clam Diet and DT's and really found no difference between the two, but I'm excited to see how their latest product works.

Don't know, don't care, we use it anyway :D

has anyone tried this mini heater yet?

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... 2035+22787

still looking for a mini top-off for nano/pico tanks but this heater should take care of heat issues (lack of and space hogging) i've found with the smaller setups.

That heater is meant for Betta's the fish that is nearly indestructible. They can live in water that ranges from 65-85, so it doesn’t need a thermostat :D

Yeh Tackett I have one of those aquariums. I’ll let you know how it goes

How much was it? Do they use it on their tanks? I know I've seen something like that in their reefs, which are stunning. 8) :D

forgot to ask. After they said $90 for a 2 -3" orange plate, I forgot.

They had a few in their tanks, and they were covered with coraline, so they've been there a while. I'll have to give them a call.
