Ive been adding baffles liverock bioballs and filterfloss in sump to try and catch these little tiny things that are clouding up my tank I kept thinking my sump had mbicro bubbles but I just shut off the pump and waited a few minutes and the stuff didnt go away
does anybody know for sure if this is true that micro bubbles should have floated to the top and dissapeared when the pump was off
I just set this tank up a month ago using all the stuff from my old tank exept a bigger sump <more live rock and new oolitic sand . Is it normal for the oolitic sand to float around for some time till all the fine stuff is gone I did rinse it before putting it in the tank and the water still stayed cloudy for 3 days . Can it be because my diamond goby stirs up the sand and if so will the fine stuff ever just go away
I had the same problem when I first setup a reef 2 years ago but I was using coarser sand I cant remember how it went away if it stopped by itself or what

yeah, three days is not all that long.

if a problem persists after a couple weeks when the sand has had plenty of time to be colonized by bacteria then we can reanalize the problem.

Its prplly dust from the sand. The water movement keeps it suspended. Give it a while longer like pod suggested.

You can run some Polyfilters for a while to see if that helps clear it up. Just put it in place of high flow in the sump and it'll do it's job.

Guys and Gals,

I don't want to Thread-Jack, but I have the same problem!

What happens if it doesn't ever calm down? Mine varies from almost crystal to 'can't see the back wall' and my tank is almost 2 mos. old.

This is really starting to worry me because I am getting a few sps in there and I need to crank up the flow even higher. What is going to happen then? My sand bed has narcissus snails in it too, so it never really is going to settle down all the way.
