Glowing Dawn effect

I really really love the dusk effect with only actinic lighting making corals fluoresce, but I have a slight dilema. I can't/don't want to rewire my hood. I'm looking for a small addon like some kind of a moonlight system that will have the right spectrum of lighting to make the corals glow for the dawn effect (like all of the metallic corals).

All of your ideas and recommendations would really be great.

Here is something I saw on ebay, but I'm not sure if it will really give me the effect I'm looking for (you never really can trust those pictures, hehe)

I'm going for the "blacklight" effect.

Try a blue cold cathode setup like you'd find underneath a car. They've got them in the automotive dept of Walmart. They run off 12 VDC and you can just match up a 12 VDC power supply wall plugin and rewire it. Worked well when I tried it.

A lot of people also use them for computer mods.

Good idea. I wonder if I could even get a really small t5 or pc retrofit for each side, and put an actinic 03 in each. Whats the smallest size t5 or pc retros?

I bought a 36" 03, T5 from a LFS for like $25. I use it for what you are talking about doing. It works great and it was cheap.

I only have about 15.5-16 in. in length to fit whatever goes in. Do they make t5 or pc retro's that small?

I use a blue part light bulb, and extention cord and adcapter to screw the light bulb into the extention cord. $5.00 at most. the bulbs are a bit cheapy and you'll have to change them every 2 months or so, not that they'll die out but the blue color painted onto it fades....
