I have a ocellaris that is around 7-8 years old, along with a damsel that is about 5, and a few other old ones. When poeple have fish their entire normal lifespan that is the thing to aim for. I am sure there are people here that have had fish 15+ years.
A hippo tang, zebra moray, and dogface puffer that are all 3 years in my tank, and were pretty much adult size when I got them, so probably at least 4 years old.
On campus we have a 17 year old carpet anemone! 8O
bar, with your 9 year old hippo tang, have you ever encountered any head and lateral line erosion?
Just curious.
Recently mine had a few pin holes on both sides of his head form. I guess I had thought that just feeding a wide variety of food would be good enough, but I started to go real heavy on selcon soaked nori and added a few other foods, and sure enough it cleared up.
I have had a few fish for up to 7 - 10 years.
The longest was a tomato clown that I kept for 13 years. I'm not sure how old it was when I got it though.
Kole tang & Tasseled Filefish 2 1/2 years, I have all my original fish that I bought over time except chromis I had 4 die the 1st month I had them.
I am getting a Passar this week with HLLE to help cure the poor fella.
