Awesome tank and photos. Thanks for posting them. Your tangs look fat and happy and they don't seem to be camera shy. I'm curious about the 2 SCWDs. How did you plumb them? I see 3 bulkheads. Did you have any trouble with the hose fittings leaking like others have reported? I'm adding a SCWD to my 60 gal today and I'm wondering about how much reduction in flow I can expect.

WOW! That's a 125? Looks like 300, easy, to me. LOVE the T. derasas in there (can't quite get a fix on the blue beauty you've got on the left there), and you're sporting one of my favorite tangs, Z. scopas.

Oh, I do hope you know that you're totally breaking "The Rules of Tang" (no, not that kind of tang), but damn, they look fat and HAPPY. You gonna upsize when that Desjardin outgrows the 125? You know you just gotta.. ;)

In any event, welcome to reefs.org, someone who's got the welcome banner b/m'd should be making their way in here sometime soon (this is me, on borrowed laptop, up north). :)

thanks for the kind words, this tank has been set up for 9 years(started as a 55 then a 100 then finally a 125. as far as the scwds go i have not had a single drip out of them, i love them both, one is on the main pump and 1 is on the return from the uv/chiller, you can expect about a 15% drop in flow, i am running a quiet one 5000 as the main pump and that scwd changes about every 4 to 5 seconds, the uv/chiller one changes every 10 to 15 seconds that pump is a ca 2200. i don't know if anyone knows it yet but the up graded is slated to come out in aug/sept, it's a larger model with threaded inputs and outputs(per e-mail with scwd maker) there are 2 different models that are being tested right now, 1 has the ability to let you set the switching speeds instead of just by water flow. they are both gonna be 1 inch inputs and outputs for larger pumps(the current scwd handles up to 1400 gph) here is a pic of my scwd set up. the purple beauty on the left is a crocea clam. once again thanks for the kind words. this is a nice website, i also go to 3reef.com, its also very nice, i am not a big fan of the other forum as i use a gasp!!!!!!!!! wet dri filter and it is akin to having leprosy over there. i have pics of the inner workings of the tank, just let me know if you would like to see them. that little scopas was giving to me because he was such a little a$$ in the tank he was in. he was about the size of a 1/2 dollar when i got him,and he got his butt handed to him and had all of his fins chewed off. he grew them all back became a model citizen and a year later he has tripled in size and is my wifes fav fish.

What species of Genicanthus angel is that? Does it have a mate?

You tank looks great da colts! :D

Is "da colts" referring to the Indianapolis Colts?

If you resize your pics to 640 X 480 no one will have to scroll to read the thread. ;)

Hy,
There's a Centropyge loriculus, but also a Genicanthus angel to the left of the flame in the second pic.

sorry about the pics being too big guys, i was not sure how big to make them, 3 reefs automatically resizes them but i will resize them in the future. the genicanthus is a japanese swallowtail. yes da colts refers to the indy colts, been a fan since 1971(telling my age here.

Thanks for replying about the SCWDs. Wish I had that 1" input now since I'm moving and setting up the tank again. Oh well, maybe I can upgrade later. Your comment about the wet/dry made me laugh. I'm actually adding a new wet/dry to my set-up. Lots of opinions out there and you have to go with what works for you. From the looks of your tank the wet/dry can't be all bad.

Sweet! We have probably met then. That Joe is a good guy. I bought a large tank from another one of his customers, and he went to the guys house, took the tank down (it still was half full of water and had a DSB in it) transported it to my house, set it up with all new hoses, got the uv and everything hooked up and running, and only charged me for the saltwater that went in.

Man, I really miss that store. I used to bring xenia in by the bucketload and he would give me an amazing return in trade!

i remember you!!!! the xenia girl.... small world...yeah joe is a real good guy, he will go out of his way for anyone, he is just like a brother to me. he sometimes gets home at all hours of the morning after setting up someones tank, and half the time he doesn't even charge for the labor. thats why he has the business he does, he really loves what he is doing. really nice to see you on here.
