Cure live rocks

Hi all,

I just bought some live rocks that need to be cured. I've placed them in a separate tank with a powerhead for circulation. My question is: Do I need to provide lighting for these rocks? If so, which would be a preferred method. 1) leave outside of house for natural sunlight? or 2) Place a lamp over it?

Nah, no light needed for curing. I've seen some lfs's have lights on there rock tanks and some don't. I'd just say do your water changes and skim if you have an extra. Is this for a new tank or just ading existing?, if it's a new tank just put it in and run with it lights and all.

I'll second what Joe said. Rocks can be cured just fine in complete darkness.

Thanx alot Joe and Len. These rocks are for an existing tank. So how do I know when the rocks are ready to be put in my existing tank?
