Every morning I find my BTA up on the back of the tank right on the surface. I put him back down on the rocks and he moves back to the back of the glass high near my overflow.
How can I get him to stay in the rocks? Any help wouldbe appriciated.

So it stays put during the day and then moves overnight?

BTW, I'll move this to the main discussion forum (and leave a copy here) so you get some experienced feedback...

He wants that higher light and higher current, would be my guess.

Yup, that was my thought too. Just wondering why he moves at night (unless I'm misinterpreting the question)...

I noticed mine only moved at night. It is probably too busy enjoying the available daytime light.

Probably safer to move at night as well (thinking of in nature).

Sorry for the confusion, My BTA travels at night and at day. He is under 2- 175MHs so I am thinking it is probably the current he is searching for. He is new to the tank 2 days old and he is about 3" acrossed.

The RBTA is not happy. When they move, they move for a reason. For more light or more water movement or both (as others have already said). If the anemone is constantly heading for the overflow or powerheads/pump returns, it wants more water movement. Place the RBTA where you would like it and direct a moderate flow of water to that area. The best would be alternating power heads on a wave timer. See if he stays there. If he moves then he wants more light. How old are your bulbs BTW?

My RBTA was on the glass at the top of the tank and directly under the lights at my LFS. After placing it in my tank, it has never moved. So I think it's happy. I have mine at the bottom of a 24" deep tank. I have 800W of MH lighting. The anemone is partially shaded from the lights but can extend out into the full intesity if it desires. I have three Maxijet 1200's on a Wavemaster Pro that constantly wash the anemone back and forth. Plus I have a gold stripe maroon clown that likes to feed it chunks of food.

My bulbs are less than 2mo old. My Water flow is light to medium at the location where I would like him.
Thanks for the replies.

OK. Last night he disappeared on me I found him lodged in a large hole in my live rock where low light and low flow would be.
Any Thoughts?

Your BTA will settle in where it is comfortable. Apparently, it thinks that the low light/low flow area is good. He will move again if that doesn't suit him. I have two, but fortunately they are comfortable in a good viewing spot. They are growing like mad! Good luck with it and have patience. It will settle eventually. Mine haven't budged in the 6 months since I got them.

She may be splitting. When they slpit they hide until the process is complete(most times). Obviously for protection from predators. This doen't mean that it is definately splitting but may be the reason.

Hey there,
My Green BTA does most of his cruising when he is hungry. He happily stays put if fed weekly on a whole prawn. I have to fight off the flame hawk to make sure he gets a feed. After a feed he may hide down in the LR for a while and then when he comes out he is looking good.
