I am down in Miami with my parents on buisness and found that on the beach there is a good amount of dried coral. Would there be any problem with using this a base rock in a up comming tank? I figure if I let it dry and boil it, all pollutents would be pretty well killed. Does anyone see any problems with this thanks,
JJ

The fossilized white coral rock is Limestone and great as baserock,, I got some when I was in the Keys last year. It's about a third covered in Coralline now,,, starting to look really nice.

They sell that stuff for $2-$4 per lb at my LFS',, I say load up on it.

While in Guam on a vacation the beaches near the resort was so littered with coral(from a recent storm)they had to bulldoze it off the beach!I asked about bringing some back, but the pollitics involved was not worth it.I cry when I think about how large some pieces were and how niece they would look in my reef tank,oh well!

I got several large chuncks of dead coral rocks from a friend. I bleached them for 48 hours, then soaked them in fresh water for 24 hours. Every 24 hours I would replace the fresh water, for a week. I slowly added them to the tank over a few days. They look great now.
