I swapped out my year old bulbs and not the tank temp jumps 5 degrees during the day now. Bad thing.

I have 2 Icecap 3in fans (27 - 43 CFM) in my open back canopy.

Should I upgrade them to 4 in fans (50-112CFM)?

I have the Icecaps now but how are the Coralvue fans?

Any other ideas?

Are you sure nothing else changed? A 5 degree jump is too high for just new bulbs. Besides, the light intensity might decrease with bulb age, but not the amount of heat it generates.

Your fans are not very powerful, even if you have an open back canopy. I would increase the CFM, not the number of fans.

I unplugged my heater for the day as well and the temp jumped from 79 to 84. At night once I get a 6 inch house fan on the sump the temp drops to 79, Over night the temp does not increase so its not the pumps either. I would like to also leave a fan on my sump but am affraid of it falling in the sump when I am not home.

Anyone got any pics of how they mounted fans in their sumps?

I will try and get new fans and somehow get them into my canopy. I had it custom made so the fans are hidden inside the canopy.
