i think it is woderful that you are willing to learn about this hobby and take some control. some people would rather pay a service to do all the work. thats when a tank becomes another object of wealth. kudos to you for your willingness to learn....
wow - i was glued to the set that night the show aired. when they showed the tank i thought, "omigosh! but - the tangs! why? and the... oh, nevermind."
i am very happy to see that you are a responsible and caring person, pam - and very pleased to welcome you to the board! looking forward to keeping up with the progress of your new hobby!
Welcome, hockeyboy. I don't have one of those special banners.. Len'll pull his out for ya.
MP, I'd heard about some of the flaming (had to ask around), glad it's no worries for you. Lots of folks don't realize that when displays are setup for trade shows and the like it's done much as yours was done. Also, if this helps, Sea View seems to have a good rep.
HI Pam, guys, Pam did first show up at a board I "frequent" well before the show aired, and I had no clue who she was, or that she was a "monster house winner" Since I am this site at the moment and found this thread, I will say she is a very intelligent woman, and I find it absolutely great she took the time to get on these boards. I have total confidence that we have a new fellow reefer for life. It probably took me three years to learn what she has in months.....I wasn't completely impressed with the setup they gave her, but the tank itself, and the gear is great, and I think the tank that she could turn it into would blow away what it started as. I am actually pleased to see that she is curious and intelligent enough to actually deserve a nice big tank.....I think she'll do great. I actually love monster house, but due to work..still haven't seen the episode! I was most happy to see the rubber corals come out.....I'm not a big fan of fake stuff. Pam, if those are high quality rubber fakes though, you might want to sell them online or something..many are quite expensive, or even better, if the money isn't an issue, give them away instead of collecting dust. I've seen some over 200 dollars each.
