OK, i got a new 900 gph pump for my berlin classic skimmer, which is flowing right into the tank.... until i have cash to setup a fuge.... but anyway.... the skimmer wasnt foaming with a 500 gph pump, upgraded to a 900 now its got the power only its filling the tank with bubbles and i cant get it to not do this, i realise it wouldnt matter if it was in a fuge but this is a few months away, is there some way i can put a container or somethingunderneath the flow to diffuse bubbles, ive tried a sock and a plastic cup with slots cut in it for water to spill over, but i have to figure out some way to get the damn bubbles out of it!!!

my old bubbles trap used to be sponge.basically you used a sponge & place it at the source that produce the bubbles, this will in turn diffuse the bubbles & probably u will get clear water  .

I wonder if others have a better plan.

I am having no such problem with my AquaC EV180 currently except for the initial breaking in period.

But I DO have tiny little bubbles from my return pump.........damned!!!!!!!!!!

this pump i got is a 1100 gph, i though it was 900, very powerful... if i set air flow on skimmer to high water pours out of it.... so a sponge huh.... hmm, well ill try it. anyone else got any ideas.

ive tried a plastic slotted cup with the sponge in front of the slots, its helping a lot but still bubbles are slipping through... my skimmer just has two outlets going into the tank.... how do you just directly put a sponge on it? also when i do get the sump setup how do you stop from bubbles getting from the sump to the main tank, im sure my sump will be full of bubbles, for some reason this stupid skimmer puts out a lot of bubbles.

Mine is the same. I have put sponge in the last chamber of the skimmer and also where the water flows into the tank, so that the water goes through the sponge. Stops about 90% of the bubbles but still too many going in the tank.

Ive tried 4 skimmers the last 6 weeks and every one of them puts bubbles in the tank. Of course the running in period doesnt help, but it strikes me as lousy design that they do this.

well, most skimmers are made for a sump... im gonna solve this problem by DIYing a overflow today and getting the sump running, i have the air turned down on my skimmer till i get the sump going....

Hey shr00m, get you some blue pads that go on a magnum 350 canister filter and cut to the size you need. Attach the pad with some rubber bands and,
no more bubbles!
