I cross posted this on Seahorse.Org:

I've built my seahorse tank, the plumbing works well. I posted before about my 4' hex with refugium. I'll be ready to add sand, liverock and water in the next few days. I would like to keep a few gorgonians and a few corralimorphs in with my seahorses. I am also thinking of stony corals.

Does anyone have experience with a deep tank? This is a 4' tall, 14 inch wide hex. It's the Sharper Image tank, modified with a refugium/sump.

My thinking is either to load the hood with small Power Compacts or get a 250W MH Pendant. Will MH bother a Seahorse? If I use MH I am going with 20,000K Radium and forgoing actinic.

Will a 250 Penetrate to the sandbed (about 4 feet)?

It will be a devil to clean.

Not a good idea to keep stinging corals with seahorses. They will hitch on them and get stung or eaten.

I've kept Xenia, leathers, sponges and gorgs with my horses.

Zoos might be OK. I think I had a few brown button polyps.

Most stonies sting... anything that can hurt the horses should be kept out - they aren't smart enough to avoid things like Euphyllia sp., and will hitch on them.
