I also run mine at 10 psi.

The issue is not about regular application when everything runs smoothly, but what if the reactor on the top floor is at a pressure, and the CO2 get off-line... will a siphon (albeit slow one with two needle valves that it nees to get thru) be created that will drain the saltwater upstair to the planted tank downstair?

I've been running this way for about 4 years with no problems. When a CO2 bottle runs out the regulator usually ramps the outlet pressure up rather than down (I know, counterintuative, but true) until the bottle is COMPLETELY empty. I've never run a CO2 bottle down to nothing. If you were worried you could always put in some check valves.

Don't notice any ramp up/down issue with regulator.... but I also made the suggestion to Dan for the check valve too.
