I am starting to get a lot of bubble algae. Is there any good way to get rid of this? How can I remove it without breaking them and releasing spores into the water?
i took a large diameter hose, lke the ones for water changes. when i did a water change, i gently pried the bubbles loose from the rock. it is large enough to suck up a whole bubble, and if you break it, most likely you will siphon off all the released spores. may not be the most correct way to do it, but it worked for me.
I just use my fingers to carefully pluck them from the rocks without rupturing them. On a side not though, I have ruptured a few and the "spores" had no effect of creating new ones. Of course, even worse case, I only rupture one, and not several of them.
Don't mess around use siphon hose (bigger better)when doing water change bring it riight up to them and pluck them with pop cycle stick or what not right out 2 sec and spores to boot ....worked great had dozen or so half year ago no signs since!
