hehe  no selfish because they care more about not getting caught with drugs than the wellbeing of the fish and or ecosystem they are destroying.

 - Couldn't help it...

Yeah.... - If you really want to get worked up over that kind of crappy behavior, just think about all those cruise ships that dumped for years (they've gotten better from what I hear...) Or even worse, I'm willing to bet the military still deep-6's their trash at sea too.... (I've seen them do it in the Caribbean while I was in the service..)

I know there are plenty of bad things that happen to the ocean. We humans have done a great job of destroying things, I just find the drugs to be a unique situation and I am wondering what the effect would be on widlife, we already know what the effect of heroin is on humans.

If it has the same effect on fish that it does on Jazz and Rock musicians there will be one helluva concert down there before they all die.

Funny, I lost a stripe in the navy because I refused to dump trash at sea, in particular paint buckets with paint still in them! This was in 97....

This is still a major problem. The United States Coral Reef Task Force is working on ways to deal with it (including big fines) as it occurs in American waters in the Caribbean Sea.

Yeah, I got out in '95.. - Saw exactly what you're talking about.. - Wanted to run across the deck and toss the guys doing the tossing but knew it wasn't just them..

Too bad no organization/legislators/agencies have stepped up to make them start using cold storage lockers for their trash like some of the cruise lines... :?

I did it a few times but then one day I got pissed and told my first calss that i wasnt going to throw HAZMAT into the water. He quickly said "As long as were 50 miles away from land we are in international waters and everything were doing is legal." and then he said " go fu%$ing throw it in"

I then said " make me mother fu**$" Nex day at captains mast the skipper said " did you tell your petty officer to fu%$ing make you do it?"

I stood tall, bellowed, yes sir!

He smiled and almost laughed at me then said : "reduction in rank, half monthes pay x2, 30 days extra duty. was it worth it seaman?"

I said "NO SIR" he asked me why I said no it wasnt worth it . I said "because next time I will throw my petty officer overboard with the trash, then it will be worth it" I then got an 30 days restriction in addition to the 30 days extra duty.

FTN LOL
