Hey, I need to replace the Rio 2100 on my skimmer, a Aquamedic turbofloater (I think it's the "classic" model, it runs with a RIO 2100 and another small pump) with another pump, it's leaking current. Decided it wasn't healthy for the water to have that "sparky" feeling when I put my hand in the tank LOL.

Don't want another RIO, cuz the big 'uns tend to have this problem IME.

Don't know what pump to buy, LFS here has a limited selection of only RIO's, so it's not like I can just go open up boxes and buy one that I think will fit.

Anyone replaced the RIO 2100? I just don't know what other pump has similar fittings so it will match up.

Try an AquaBee,might be hard to find but mine works great with it. No additional pumps nor air pumps to assist the TF1000. You might also see if you can find an different impeller to pump more air out of the powerhead. Mine has the "spokes" instead of the blades, this helps a lot. Blue

i believe that aquamedic makes an upgrade kit that gives you the needlewheel impeller that just beats the hell out of the air/water into foam. lots better than standard TF i hear

Not sure if you can get it to button up to your skimmer but I'd go with a Mag 7 if you can. Those are great pumps and I have seen them take some abuse and keep on runnin'

Yeah, I think it's called a Ocean runner 2700 our something like that.

Yes, that's it. The new ones come with this pump. I have it on mine, and I have to limit the amount of air I let into the skimmer. It almost works too well.
