Well after being away for 4 days, I have returned and everything is still alive and nothing disastrous has occured! Yippee! also, 1 month has passed since my last fish has died, and I'm almost ready to start re-stocking. :D :D :D :D

i left mine for a weekend this summer and was on the phone at least 5 times a day with my sister who was watching the tank(no SW experience at all). i was a nervous wreck. luckily all went well and nothing died. i couldn't even think about a longer time away.

I wish I could say the same. I went to the keys for a week and my tank almost had an electrical fire. Luckily I had a friend checking in who caught the problem. Still, I have almost lost one coral, a yellow acro, to slow tissue necrosis, and is barely holding on. I guess I could consider myself lucky, though, it could have been worse.

Its a good feeling to come back and not find a disaster, isn't it? My tank will be in the hands of my wife for 2 weeks while I am on a business trip.

Pray for my critters.

Good for you! I've seen so many, "I went on vacation, and now everything is dead.", threads. Good job!

Any tips you can share with us?

I recomend you never do anything right before you leave thats allways when things go wrong. Do a water change 3 or 4 days before to make sure everthing is stable first. Just my opinion. :D

I agree with Neo_TA. Also to add to that... never add a new piece of equipment to a tank the day of/before you leave that you think will make your fishtank's babysitter job easier... like an auto-topoff system for example. I almost learned this the hard way when I went to Hawaii a couple months back.
