i have a frogsporn coral and would like to know if anyone has experienced whether they ched little pieces now and then is it normal? not every day but the other day i used a turkey baster to blow debris off all my pieces and 2 little pieces came off coral. also do they like bright light or med or low aswell current fast or slow.

thanks for any help.

Polyp bailout is natural, although if it's doing it excessively, it may be a sign of distress. Mine does it on occassion, probably once every few months. Sometimes when a polyp is damaged, it'll assexually reproduce from it on a chronic basis.

Euphyllias generally do not need much light but can be acclimated to more lights. My Torch 18" below 400 watt halides and did very well. They prefer good water movement around their tentacles, but not so much that the tentacles are tossed around violenting. A constant soft surge is idea.

it might be better for the coral if you blow of detritus during the evening when the coral has shrunk so you are exposed to more skeleton.
